I just read the book “The Innovation Secret Of Steve Jobs” I must admit that this is the first book I’ve read about him and Apple’s general philosophy. Through seven chapters,  author leads us slowly through the story of Jobs creativity and trying to show  us why and how come Apple become biggest IT company in the World.

The biggest risk is not to innovate!

The biggest risk associated with innovation is not to innovate. If the company does not have innovations, it allows competition to shape the future.

New ideas will shape the market that will no longer be interested in old products.

 

Because of this, we can say that sometimes the challenges of innovation are big, but the risk of non-innovating is much higher.

Convince the first person

The first phase, or “zero phase” of the innovation process is to convince the first person to get behind your idea.
In the best case that is superior and idea gets first push towards better explanation + technical details which are needed for get through other early stages of the process.

So, how to get first person? Get the best catch of your idea! Try to elaborate in 3 sentences what’s most important and what do we get from that Idea, or to whom it could be sold.

There no space for ideas in hostile environment

Few weeks ago, I got one insight from a friend who works in factory.

He had an idea how to improve the production process. He spoken with his supervisor and they made this improvement which produces less waste and production is faster.

I must say that, I spoke with him few months ago and encouraged him to make this, as it will be done in my company with no problem, but we have innovation culture…

10 tips to improve your innovation capabilities

Here is 10 simple tips with which you can improve you chances to become successful innovator:

1. read
Inform yourself everyday with the news from your interests, but also from the topics you never thought about.
First, read news, blogs & portals about your main interests, but also sometimes read something from topics from which your never read before (example is fishing or building magazines or websites)

2. write-down your ideas!
Every idea has to be written, otherwise it will wipe out from your head.
First, just write down what’s in your head with no details. Later, you can add new features & descriptions.
